Roasted Turkey


16-20 pound whole turkey Salt and Pepper
1/2 stick margarine


  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees
  2. Rinse turkey and pat dry with paper towel
  3. Sprinkle cavity lightly with salt and pepper
  4. Secure legs with string or wire
  5. Place turkey in large roasting pan
  6. Microwave margarine until melted (30-45 seconds)
  7. Brush turkey with melted margarine
  8. Sprinkle outside of turkey with salt and pepper
  9. Cover with foil
  10. Estimate cooking time 20-30 minutes per pound
  11. During last 30 minutes, remove foil
  12. Let stand, tented with foil, for 15-20 minutes before carving
  13. Sprinkle outside of turkey with salt and pepper
  14. Reserve drippings for gravy
