Milky Way Cake

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. butter 1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped nuts 1 1/2 c. sugar
16 oz. Milky Way bars, cut into pieces 4 large eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour flour 1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1 cup flaked coconut 6 Tbs. sugar

Preparation

Grease a 10 inch fluted pan with the 2 tablespoons butter. Add chopped nuts. Tilt and rotate pan to cover bottom and sides. Heat candy bars and 1/2 cup butter in a heavy saucepan, over low heat, stirring often until melted and smooth. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Mix flour, baking soda and salt. With an electric mixer, beat remaining 1 cup butter and the sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and candy mixture. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk until well-bblended. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour or until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack for 30 minutes. Remove from pan.
